1986
Born in Grenada, Mississippi on May 07, 1986 to Ralph and Celina McNatt.  Welcomed home by his big sister Kristen, 3 1/2. I remember being in such aw at having a son. Chase was born by scheduled c-section and was a little jaundice in the beginning.  He was always such a good baby.  He always was on a schedule for eating and sleeping, and never was sick.
Chase was our only son, his sisters' only brother, his grandparents only grandson, his aunts only blood nephew.  He was truly one of a kind that was sent to us for 18 short years. Now it seems like we only had him a minute.  He was sent to us to teach us love, patience, and humor, to name a few.

At the age of 2 1/2, Chase was climbing and fell and knocked out three of his front teeth and had to have 6 stitches in the back of his head, right in the crown. We don't think he had any permanent damage from his fall, although he was always so silly after that. Chase liked to play with Ninja Turtles, Hot Wheels and GI Joes. He loved watching  Batman and wrestling with his daddy. He got to attend an actual Big Truck Show in Tupelo and a WWF wrestling match in Jackson.

1991-1996
Chase enjoyed school, not so much the learning part, but, he loved clowning and making people laugh.  He always had a bigger audience when he was at school.  I went for so many Teacher/Parent Conferences that I lost count. He wasn't a bad kid, just always being silly, making noises and trying to distract somebody.  His teachers told me he was just imature and would grow out of it.  I don't know that he ever did.  He was going to be my Jim Cary.  During these years Chase tried karate, soccer, baseball, boy scouts, piano, band and football.  He didn't do good in school, he hated to read, but he was very good with electronics, computers, etc. He always set all my clocks, vcrs and channels on the remote. We had gotten our new computer in 11/03 and he set all of that up.  He also was a wizard at downloading music, I had almost 800 songs on my computer when he past.

Kristen and Chase got a 4-wheeler for Christmas.  Kristen rode it a good bit, but Chase rode the wheels off of it. We had to replace the tires quit often.  He said he'd keep it out of the mud, but some how it always ended up there.  It stayed all night in the lake bottom, at least twice, until we could get some one out there to help us pull it out. He ran it into a tree once and Kristen let it roll down our drive backwards and flip once. Amazingly it is still running.
Chase got to attend church camp a couple of times.  I remember, after one of those stays, the conversation we had on our way home. I asked him how it went and he told me "Good, I got baptized 12 times in one night".  Apparently they had had a baptizm after service one night and he decided he'd get baptized.  He enjoyed it so well he just kept getting back in line and going again and again.

12/18/99
Kristen and Chase welcomed home Macie, their new baby sister.  Chase was 13 and Kristen was 17.  Chase really adored Macie from the start. Macie had a lot of health problems in the beginning and that kept Ralph and I busy, drawing attention away form Kristen and Chase, but they never seemed to mind. Having Macie showed me just how tender and loving Chase could be.  He was a softy.  He loved his Sissy and she loved her Bubba.  I pray she always remembers him and his love for her.
Macie reminds me so much of Chase, she looks so much like him. She has traits from both Kristen and Chase.  She has Chase's looks, love, and silliness, and she has Kristen's temper and smarts.

Chase completes 6 Months at Camp Shelby in Hattisburg, Ms.  He made alot of new friends and learned alot also. I know he would say that that was a very important time in his life.  When he left Grenada he was in the 9th grade and 6 months later he had graduated, done with school!

6/03-7/03

As soon as Chase got finished at Camp Shelby he went to get his Life Guard Certification and went to work at the Girl Scout Camp in Grenada for about 6 wks as one of their Lifeguards.  He enjoyed that also, I think it was more like play than work.  He also got a good tan.  I'm sure those little girls thought he was such a hunk.

8/03-8/04
Chase started at Grocery Basket as a bag boy/stocker.  I know he got frustrated a lot of the time, but he hung in there and stayed a whole year.  I pray he knew how very proud we were of him for proving he could stick with it.  Shortly after he started at GB he and sissy Kristen went truck shopping and Chase brought home a burgundy 2000 Toyota Tacoma.  He was so proud of that truck. Chase wanted to do alot of things to his truck, paint it , sell it, I never could keep up with what he was planning.
Three weeks before his death he had changed jobs.  He had gotten a job with Benji, Ambers boyfriend laying bricks.  He seemed to like that also, even though it seemed like harder, dirtier work.
Chase had sat down at our computer just a week or two before his death and looked up the #'s to recruiters to join the military.  Just the night before his death he told us he wanted to be a truckdriver.
I know it will sound like I might be bragging, but Chase seemed to have it going on - the looks, the ride, personallity and taste in music. He also had a personal relationship with God which was obvious by his Heart of Gold and how he treated everyone in his life.
Chase had lost several friends in accidents during the few months before his death. I watched how much he hurt each time when I broke the news to him about Tyler, Scottie, Derrick and Alexis.  None of us ever imagined in a million years that he would be next.

September 23, 2004
On the Thursday night of September 23, 2004 at around 9:10 P.M. Chase lost control of his truck about 2 miles past our house and hit a dirt embankment. Chase lived for about 2 1/2 hrs after his accident.  He had several injuries including head trama.  GLMC tried to stabilize him to fly him to a trama center about 100 miles from our home, but he was hurt too bad and died before he was loaded on the helcopter.  His father and I did get to go in and see him before he died.  He was never conscious after his wreck.  We both got to talk to him, to pray for him, not knowing that would be the last time we would see him alive.  He never acknowledged that we were there although some how I know he knew we were.  He was beautiful, as always. That was the most devastating night of our lives. We still don't know what caused the wreck. All the questions, regrets and blames.  We miss him in our lives so very much. When Macie and I say our prayers at night we always remember to pray for "Angel Bubba in Heaven with Jesus".

Christmas 2004
Chase's first Christmas in Heaven. Our first Christmas without him. We love our girls and are trying to go on.  Life just isn't the same.

2005
Life goes on as badly as we would like to have it back the way it was before Chase's death.  We've all had to make the decision to sink or swim, and we have all dealt with our grief differently. By the Grace of God we have survived Thangsgiving, Macie's 5th birthday party, Christmas, New Years, and Valentines.  Kristen and Johnny have gotten engaged, and other things have happened that we wish we could share with Chase.  In the next couple months we have Easter and Chase's 19th birthday.  On Macie's 4th birthday Chase put her new bike together and rode it into the skating rink where we were having here party, Christmas of '03 Chase helped me put out Macie's Santa Claus.  Easter '04 Chase helped me fix Macie's Easter basket.  I chose not to do anything for Chase's 18th birthday because I was agravated at him for not coming to church on Mothers Day with me, I regret that. I'm so glad I have the good memories, though, but it hurts so bad to know that Chase is a part of our past now and not our future. We will keep his memory alive for us and most of all for Macie.

March '05
On March 20, 2005 my father, Chase's Papaw Clyde died suddenly at GLMC after being admitted for trouble breathing, stomach pain, and nausea.  Less than 12 hours later we lost him.  Could have been a blood clot or possibly a heart attach, we are not sure at this time. His  funeral was yesterday the 22nd. We all lived out here on the hill close together  and  although we may not have seen daddy every day we knew he was near.  Although I will miss my father very much also, I find peace in knowing he and Chase are together.

May-June '05
Your 19th birthday came and went.  I dreaded it so much, I knew I would have to stay busy that weekend in order to make it through it.  Mothers Day fell the same weekend, the day after your birthday.  You were on my mind constantly, as always. We went to Memphis for the weekend and celebrated with Macie as I knew you would want us to do.  We took her to Libertyland and to a motel for the night with an indoor pool.
Fathers Day came and went also.  Daddy misses you so very much, too.  I packed up most of your things so Kristen could use your room and that was very painful.  I thought I was ready but I don't think I was.  She stayed about 3 weeks on and off, but it hasn't worked out and she's gone again. I hope she also realizes that I love her no matter what. I hope she finds peace with alot of things that bother her and soon  just learns to groan and forget most of it.
